 FAQs

  • We have a variety of different formats that we currently digitize including VHS, Mini DV, 8MM and DVD/CD Rom. If you have other items not listed here, we will do our best to aquire the neccesary hardware to capture your media.

  • We will work with you to decide the best course of action and attempt to repair your tapes, hopefully recovering these lost memories.

  • This all depends on the amount of items you need digitized. It is a process as every tape has to be played to be captured onto the hard drive. We can give you a more detailed timeline upon drop off.

  • During the 90's the world began to adopt the now standard 16:9 aspect ratio. But video equipment before this change was recorded in the almost square 4:3 ratio. I wanted to ensure that any media we convert is locked at their original intended aspect ratios

I don't like when videos get stretched to fill a screen, and this is a common problem when working with old footage.

All of the footage that you get back from us is going to play beautifully on whatever screen you’re watching on.

  • Absolutely! You can get as many copies as you want for the cost of $15/copy PLUS the cost of the hard drive.

  • All of your memories will be secured on our locally stored backups. This means that obtaining additional copies of your videos or adding more to your hard drive later is an easy process

  • We want you to keep in mind that when digitizing these types of items, we are dealing with old and oftentimes fragile technology.

Tapes in particular are known to be at risk for being damaged when they are being played. At Half Moon we promise to do our best to keep your items safe but we can't guarantee that your items will make it back in perfect condition.

Because of this, each client we work with will be required to sign a contract and waiver

  • You can either plug it into a computer or laptop and view all of your content that way or most modern TVs allow easy playback from portable hard drives.

Simply plug the device into the USB port on your television, and your memories will be ready to play on the big screen.
